The ferry company has an agreement with the Lna`i Car Rental which rents 4-door Jeep Wranglers. It is an additional $252 on top of the cost of the roundtrip ferry ticket. That includes the roundtrip shuttle of one person to the city to pick up and return the Jeep. Each additional person is $20 round trip.

We'd just like to snorkel Hulopoe and possibly go to Lanai City and grab some lunch. Is there still a shuttle for non-FS guests? When are the resorts there going to be closed?
Rent a jeep not a bike. You won't see much from a bike I am afraid. If you rent from Adventure Lanai they will have the jeep waiting for you at the ferry dock other wise you would need to pay for the shuttle to get to town. The other car rental for jeeps is Dollar in town and you would need to shuttle to get to them.

You might try emailing the local realtors in Lanai City. They may know of a house available for rent. Sometimes people put up flyers with houses and rooms available for rent at the local gas station in Lanai, the Blue Ginger restaurant and the market to name a few, but that won't help you much from Texas. If you know of any co-workers living there already, ask them to look around

When we were on Lana'i (stayed at Manele, but were up at the Lodge often) this past January, the spa construction was did not seem to be bothersome.
