Feb 18, 2017 Fujica ST605. This is a 35mm SLR film camera from 1977. It is very reminescent of an Asahi Pentax. Interestingly, Fuji (as Fujifilm) are one of the few companies to still make film cameras the Fuji Instax. So, this is an all manual film camera using the standard M42 lens mount thread introduced by eastern Zeiss Ikon in 1949.

Jan 17, 2018 In July 1978, I owned my first single lens reflex camera, a Fujica ST605N. I paid $127. My sister Nicole splashes in our backyard pool in the summer of 1978. It was one of my first pictures made with the Fujica ST605N, shot at its fastest shutter speed, 1/700th of a second. At the time, I remember being very pleased with the stop-motion effect.

The big thing to report here, and I will review it in much more depth soon, is that the Fujica ST605N surprised me with just how nice it is to shoot. Honestly. Polaroid 669. Polaroid 669 film is Type 100 pack film. It fits in exactly the same cameras that you can still put Fujifilm FP100C in today.

This model updates the previous ST601 , with the main difference being voltage changes to the meter circuitry, which abandoned dependence on the use of mercury cells and allow the camera to operate using 1.5v modern batteries.

The camera Id bought was a pretty good inexpensive SLR: the Fujica ST605N. Completely manual, simple TTL metering (that worked surprisingly well), and the standard M42 mount (well standard at the time, anyway). It came with a Fujinon 55mm f/2.2 lens, but because of the universal mount it was easy to get other lenses.

Jan 25, 2019 A recent camera that came across Alexs Desk, the ST605 is certainly a camera that matches the term budget camera. Not only that it performs beautifully with match needle metering, standard SR44 batteries, an M42 lens mount that can use even Zeiss glass, but the Fujinon lenses are nothing to scoff at.

Mar 10, 2023 The ST601 only stayed on the market a short time before being replaced by the Fujica ST605 in 1976. Feature removals include a reduced shutter speed range, from 1/2 sec. at the low end, to an odd 1/700th sec. top speed; and a lesser top film speed at 1600 ASA (as opposed to 3200 ASA). It was a few grams heavier than the ST701.
