I ended up with an X-Pro 2 and an X100F both lovely cameras, with proper dials on the bodies and aperture rings on the lenses. But there was something nagging at me.
The camera Id bought was a pretty good inexpensive SLR: the Fujica ST605N. Completely manual, simple TTL metering (that worked surprisingly well), and the standard M42 mount (well standard at the time, anyway). It came with a Fujinon 55mm f/2.2 lens, but because of the universal mount it was easy to get other lenses.

Mar 1, 2017 It was produced from 1972 to 1978. Its still perfectly usable today and can be found at reasonable prices (less than $50.00) if you are patient and wait for a good opportunity. The ST605 is really abundant and cheap ($10 to $30), but is very limited (slow shutter and stopped down metering).

Nov 30, 2018 The Fujica ST-901 could not be described as an elegant camera in the way the Pentax SV is with its curves, purring shutter and gorgeous winder arm. Its boxier, but not at all ugly. If I could visually compare it to a modern Fuji camera, it would be the XT-10 and XT-20.
