Posted August 25, 2021 (edited) The ST701 was designed for two PX400 mercury batteries (1.35v each) and the meter is voltage sensitive. 1.35v zinc-air Wein cell equivalents are available, but using two of them is not a very economical option.

Nov 24, 2005 My is the newest (hotshoe, plastic selftimer, plastic film advance lever tip, etc.) and uses two V400PX batteries, the ones with a blue plastic collar. On most sites where recalibration to 1,5 V cells is presented they talk about the older versions of this camera.

Jun 18, 2022 I believe Don was referring to the Fujica ST701 he just acquired, which was designed for two smaller PX400 batteries. I haven't seen brass adapters in that size though a smaller zinc-air battery with an rubber o-ring spacer would work, as long as the battery was not meant to make contact with the sides of the battery compartment.

Dec 5, 2018 If the camera still doesn't work then it may have leaked through the battery compartment and eaten through the wire connection on the back, in which case you may be able to re-solder it. If it's badly damaged then it may need replacement with a part from another camera.

Nov 9, 2018 Being a short lived model, there is not much info out there on the FX-1, but it is a nice robust camera, with both aperture and shutter speed shown in the viewfinder, open aperture metering, DOF preview, and access of course to Zeiss lenses. Mine reads at least 2 stops over, but it reacts to light quickly and has little memory.
Posted January 21, 2019. The advance lever mechanism may need cleaning and oiling. The lever pushes a toothed ratchet around when advancing the film, but the lever is meant to "freewheel" back to it's original start position by means of light spring tension. Any dirt or goo in the mechanism will prevent the spring from doing it's job properly.

Aug 29, 2009 The Canon FTb/FTbN/TLb/F-1/F-1n etc. take an adapter which allow M42 lense to reach infinity focus. The F-1 has a horizontal shutter but the curtains are titanium so you have your metal. Minolta SLRs also have an adapter for M42 lenses. The XD-11 and XD-5 models have a vertical metal shutter.
