Insert two nickel-zinc batteries, one on top of the other, into the battery chamber with the plus sides (+) facing outward and close the cover.
Options. The ASA dial is screwed down by a single screw in the middle of the dial. Using plastic rod or wood dowel that is just the same diameter of the head of the screw which then has a piece of rubber attached to its end you can fashion a friction screwdriver to unscrew the slot-less screw.
